Rev Clifton E. Knowles

Rev. Clifton E. Knowles, age 87, resident of Cleveland, TN, went home to be with his Lord on February 2, 2009. He passed away in a local hospital with his loving family by his side. He was a retired ordained minister in the Church of God. He was a member of the Westmore Church of God. He was a veteran of WWII and served his country in the United States Navy in the Battle of Normandy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Gertrude Henderson Knowles.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Barbara J.Knowles, Cleveland, TN, two daughters and sons in law, Patricia and Andrew Blackman, Cleveland and Sherri and Phillip Hopkins, Middlesex, North Carolina; one brother and sister in law, Jack and Daphney Knowles, Matthews, North Carolina; 2 grandchildren, Brian Hopkins and Bradley Blackman and 1 great grandson, Baker Lindan. 2 nieces, Carolyn and Dianne.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 7, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Pastors Kelvin Page and Wendell Smith and Rev. Melvin Shuler officiating. Military honors will be given at the funeral service. Interment will be held Monday, February 9, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be retired ministers of the Church of God.
