Leo S. Kowalski

Leo S. Kowalski, age 87, resident of Cleveland, TN and formerly of Fairfield, CT., passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at his church. He was a veteran of World War II and served his country in the United States Navy. He fought in the invasion at Normandy and received a Good Conduct Medal. He worked as an inspector in the Bullard Company in Fairfield, CT for 40 years. He retired early so he and his wife could travel extensively throughout the United States. They settled in Key West until moving to Cleveland eight years ago. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Lorraine Kowalski and parents, Walter Kowalski and Waleria Najelska Kowalski.

He is survived by his three precious daughters, Sandra Moriarty and husband, George of Cleveland, TN, Catherine Kowalski and Joyce Kowalski both of Milford, CT; two brothers, Frank Kowalski and Walter Kowalski, Jr. both of Jamesport, New York and one sister, Edith Sawicki, of Southold, New York; three grandchildren, Kelly and Kaitlyn Moriarty and Andrew Kowalski and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Mass of the Resurrection will be held Saturday, January 30, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church. Interment will be held private. Members of the Knights of Columbus will serve as pallbearers. The family requests in lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Knights of Columbus Council # 4572 P. O. Box 2684, Cleveland, TN 37320.
