Grace E. Lane, 91, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, July 23, 2010 in a local healthcare facility. She was born in Lenoir City, TN on November 8, 1918 to the late Madison Monroe (Roy) Bivens and Maude Mae Houston Bivens. She was united in marriage on September 30, 1934 to Avery Lane.
She served as a pastors wife to her husband Avery for 53 years in the Church of God in Tennessee and Indiana prior to his death. A woman who loved people generously, she reached out in many caring and unselfish ways throughout her life. She sacrificed much so that her family could be involved in various ministries. She was a member of the House of Restoration (Milford, Ohio Church of God); where she attended while her son, Dennie, served as pastor, until his death in 1999. She has been a resident of Cleveland, TN since 2002.
In addition to her parents, husband and son, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William (Bill) McKinley Bivens, Frank Everett Bivens, Clarence Edward Bivens, Clifford Anderson Bivens, Robert (Bob) Raymond Bivens, and James Carl (J.C.) Bivens; her sisters, Edith Mae Bivens Davis Shaw and Anna Louise Bivens Davis; and her great granddaughter, Sara Riddle.
Survivors include grandson, Tony Lane (Joy); granddaughter, Marilyn Riddle (Roger); daughter in law, Joyce Lane Rayburn (Bill); great grandchildren, Joshua Lane (Joyce), Meagan Lane, Matthew Riddle; great-great granddaughter, Madison, all of Cleveland, TN; and brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Ellers Mortuary in Kokomo, Indiana with Rev. Tony Lane, Rev. Bill Rayburn, and Rev. Roy Boothe officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden.
The family will receive friends Monday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
