On June 19, 2010, the life of Harold A. Gus Lippard was required by his Maker. He was born 9/17/21 in Iredell County, NC to Jesse Monroe Lippard and Florence Augusta Troutman Lippard and came to Cleveland in 1952. He owned and operated Lippard Propane Service for many years.
He retired from the LP gas industry in 1986.
He was a WWII veteran, US Navy, and served aboard the USS Franklin, The Ship That Wouldnt Die . He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and a Letter of Personal Commendation from Adm. Wm F. Halsey. He was recalled to service in the Korean War.
He was a member of Broad St. Methodist Church and the Kelley Sunday School Class, the VFW, American Legion and a lifetime member of BPOE 1944. He was a lifetime member and past president of the Tennessee LP Gas Association.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lois, one daughter Carol Dorst and her husband Mike of Sarasota, FL, one granddaughter Leslie Garbis and her husband Evangelos of Hollywood, FL, one grandson Ryan Dorst and fiance Wendi Trinkner of Breckenridge, CO , and one great-grandson Evangelos Evan Garbis of Hollywood, FL. He is also survived by one brother, Joe Lippard of Wilson, VA, and many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Broad Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Debbie Stokes and Rev. Reed Shell officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Kelley Sunday School Class. A Military Honor Guard will be conducted at the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes .
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 30, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Broad Street United Methodist Church.
