Betty C. McDaniel

d. March 29, 2010

Betty Carolyn McDaniel, age 79, resident of Cleveland, TN, passed away Monday, March 29, 2010, in a local healthcare facility. She was born Betty Carolyn Ingram to James Clark and Bessie Dee Ingram on March 30, 1930 in Shelby County, Alabama. She was raised in rural Alabama on a 40 acre farm with three sisters, Margaret, Jimmie and Marian. She graduated from Montevallo High School in 1948. That same year she married Roland McDaniel.

In the year 1950 they had their first child, Archie Roland. In 1952, their second son, Clark Charles was born. Her husband accepted a pastorate at a Church of God, located in Covington, Georgia, in 1955 and served there nine years. In 1964 the family moved to Cleveland, Tennessee where her husband accepted a teaching position at Lee College. She attended Lee College and graduated in 1970 with a degree in Elementary Education. That same year she began teaching first grade at McDonald Elementary. She loved this school and community greatly and was terribly disappointed at its closing in 1979. She then transferred to North Lee Elementary where she taught until her retirement in 1990. Her family supported and were members of North Cleveland Church of God. There she made many wonderful, Christian friends as a member of the Geneva Circle, Ladies Prayer and Praise Group and the Unity Sunday School Class. She and Roland made more than 20 trips to American Southwest. They visited Zuni, Apache and Navajo Indian Tribes and spread Gods love to these wonderful people. She will always be remembered as one who loved Christ, family and friends. She touched many as a teacher, mother, grandmother and most of all faithful Christian.

She is preceded in death by both her parents and two sisters, Jimmie Pauley and Marian White. She is survived by her loving husband, both sons and two precious daughters in law, Fay and Twana McDaniel. She has four wonderful grandchildren, Matthew Ellis, Michelle Ellis, Marie McDaniel and Chelsea McDaniel. She also has a surviving sister Margaret Godfrey, who resides in Atlanta, GA.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 1, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at North Cleveland Church of God Chapel with Pastor Mitch Maloney and Rev. Roland Pendley officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with members of the Unity Sunday School Class serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 31, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the North Cleveland Church of God Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
