Harold L. McMahan, Sr., age 76, resident of Cleveland, TN, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2008, in a local hospital. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Cleveland. He was a retired from Springs Industries in Dalton, GA as an accountant. He was also employed with Borg Textiles in Chattanooga and Burlington Woolen Mill in Cleveland. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He loved music and was a member of the Cleveland Barbershop Harmony Society. He was an avid fisherman and loved to travel. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys E. McMahan and parents, Paul and Ann McMahan.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Hart Smith McMahan, two sons and daughters in law, Carl and Judy McMahan and Harold Jr. Hal and Kay McMahan, all of Cleveland, TN, one daughter and son in law, Colleen and Michael Wade, Silver Springs, FL; one brother, Paul McMahan, Jr. and wife, Joyce, Hixson, TN and one sister, Betty Ann and Dr. John McKenzie, Athens, TN; 8 grandchildren, Chris McMahan, Kammy McCullough, Pete Passavant, Jr., Harry McMahan, Brandon Wade, Laura Wade, Ashton Wade and Bevin Wade; five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Gibson and Rev. Bill Griffith officiating. Interment will be held Sunday, July 13, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Athens, TN. The funeral procession will begin at 2:00 p.m. from the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Church or Charity of your choice.

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 12, 2008, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and there will also be a time of celebration and reflection at 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2008, at the Garden Plaza in Cleveland, 3500 Keith Street.
