June G. Mitchell

June G. Mitchell, age 84, resident of Cleveland, TN, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at her residence. She was a member of the Broad Street United Methodist Church where she was an active member of the Wesley Sunday School Class. She was a Sunday school teacher and a youth leader for many years. She became a barber at the age of 58 and she was the owner and operator of Ivey's Barber Shop. She loved to sew and she was a member of the stitch club. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She was very active and a strong supporter of her grandchildrens sports. She was an avid tennis player. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph A. Glass and Ivey Hart Glass and one sister, Aileen Hughes.

She is survived by her beloved husband, James M. Mitchell, Cleveland, TN; daughter and son in law, Drs. Jo Lee and Jerry DeVane, Cleveland; one son and daughter in law, Jim and Marianne Mitchell, Dallas, TX; one brother, Joseph F. Glass, Snellville, GA; five precious grandchildren, Ben DeVane, Taylor DeVane, Zach Mitchell, Jake Mitchell and Brianna DeVane. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services will be held Friday, August 15, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. at Broad Street United Methodist Church with Pastor Reed Shell and Rev. Debbie Stokes officiating. Interment will be held Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery. The procession will leave Grissom Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. to go to the cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 15, 2008, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the church.
