Johnny Wayne Myers, 72, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at his home. He was a native of Calhoun, Tennessee and graduated from Calhoun High School. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. After leaving the military, he was employed with Bowater and then the U. S. Postal Service. He retired from the U. S. Postal service after 22 years and was a postal clerk in Chattanooga upon retirement. He was a great sports enthusiast and coached little league baseball. He was a member of the American Legion Post 81. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Armon and Pearl Silvey Myers; two brothers, Melvin and Dewey Myers; and two sisters, Edith Brunt and Mary Lynn Myers.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Barbara Myers of Cleveland; one son and daughter in law, David Wayne and Gretchen Myers of Colorado Springs, CO; two daughters, Janis Marie KinCannon of Cleveland and Diana Carol of Chattanooga; one brother and sister in law, Ray and Martha Myers of Chattanooga; one sister and brother in law, Ruth and Hugh E. Bryan of Calhoun, TN; four grandchildren, Alysse Meiling, Mikael Myers, Nolan Myers, and Perry KinCannon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Rev. Hugh Paul Bryan and Pastor Robert Smith officiating. Interment will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Calhoun Cemetery with Perry KinCannon, David Myers, Andy Myers, Steve Myers, Jim Holley, and Hugh P. Bryan serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Neal Walker, Blaine Lawson and Bob Warren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3405 Peerless Road, Cleveland, TN 37312.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
