Harless Lee Payne, 80, a resident of Cleveland, went home to be with his Father God on Wednesday, August 18, 2010. He was born July 11, 1930 to the late Ida Le Ora and William Frazier Payne. He was married to the late Cleona Payne for 58 years. He was retired from Tennessee Copper Company and Tennessee Chemical Company. He attended the North Cleveland Church of God. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Eva Ledford and Lloyd Payne. Survivors include one son, Kenneth Lee Payne (Joby) of Maryville, TN; two daughters, Sybil Brown (Bodie) of Ducktown, TN and Sandra White (Wayne) of Cleveland; five siblings, Atha Jones Lentz (John), Hazel Ledford McCann (John), Charlotte Johnson, Loretta Pierce (Billy) and Winston Payne (Evelyn); five grandchildren, Sharon (Greg) Morrow, Kim (Milan) Cranfield, Aaron (Pam) Brown, Becky (Robbie) Cearley, Kelly(Keith) Sanderson; 9 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He had a lot of friends that loved him dearly at the North Cleveland Towers and special friends, Betty Medley, Betty Navarro, Inez Spraker and Anita Dunnavnat. Funeral services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Cheatham and Rev. Travis Porter officiating. Interment will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Farner Presbyterian Cemetery with Johnny Johnson, Jr., Gary Payne, Lavern Jones, Keith Sanderson, Dennis Ledford, Charles White and Milan Cranfield serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Lovin, David Hagan, Lonnie Mathews, and Fran Smithwick. The family will receive friends Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home prior to the service.
