June Carolyn Pigg, age 63, of Cleveland, went home to be with her Lord, on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at her home after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer.

She was the daughter of the late Leon Franks and Irene Evans Franks and step mother, Ruth Ashe Franks. She was preceded in death by her in-laws, Rev. John W. and Gladys Griffith Pigg, and Laverne Pigg. One niece, Amy Griffey Pigg and one nephew, Chuck Pigg.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and loved serving her family as a homemaker for 45 years. She loved decorating her home and doing crafts.

She was a member of Waterville Baptist Church and a faithful member of the church choir. She grew up singing gospel music, of which she excelled in and credited her ability to read and sing songs correctly from her Dad's teaching of shaped notes and early training. She had many gifts of kindness and service to others for which she gave God all the honor and praise.

Survivors include her loving and devoted husband John D. Pigg, her daughter, Shanin Peterson (Dudley) of Canton, GA, son, David Pigg (Jeanne) of Acworth, GA; four grandchildren, Audrey Peterson, Emily Peterson, Rachel Peterson, and Ryan Hill; one sister, Linda Stephens (Kenneth); brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Brenda Pigg, Sarah and Jimmy Hughes, and Charles and Brenda Pigg; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins; special friends, Bennie Dean and Carol Martin; and a host of friends and loved ones. She will be sadly missed by all.

Visitation will be held at Grissom Funeral Home Thursday from 5-8 pm. and again Friday at Waterville Baptist Church from 1-2 pm prior to the funeral service. The funeral will be held on Friday, March 19, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Waterville Baptist Church, with Rev. Alan Lovelace and Rev. Joe Brooks officiating, with music being provided by the Waterville choir.

Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery with deacons of the Waterville Baptist Church serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Waterville Baptist Church, 3722 Dalton Pike, Cleveland, TN, 37323.
