J. Fred Pinckard of Cleveland, a faithful and loving Christian husband, father and grandfather, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 29, 2007. Pinckard was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cleveland, TN. In his younger years he served as a deacon, trustee and a Sunday School teacher. He traveled far and wide coordinating Lay Led Revivals for 25 years and published a book about Christian experiences that is still being shared by thousands. Pinckard also owned and operated a successful baby chick hatchery for 25 years. J. Freds opened his heart and soul to all who would listen to his kind and gentle words. Some of his work was best described in a 2007 edition of Open Window . It said he often referred to himself as just a chicken farmer. but to those who knew him best, he was a giant among Christian men. For years, Fred and his wife Amy organized lay-led revivals across the country, teaching men and women how to share their faith in everyday life. According to the publication, his own stories of being used by God as a fisher of men inspired others to aspire to the same goal. Additionally, his humility, love, encouragement, giving, and prayer power have challenged all who knew him. He is truly known by his fruits " people saved and discipled. He is preceded in death by his parents William L. Pinckard and Ida Patterson Pinckard and by five brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 58 ½ years Amy Dean Renner Pinckard and one son and daughter in law, Philip A. and Sandra R. Pinckard; two grandchildren Matthew A. Pinckard and Megan E. Pinckard of Metairie, La; one sister Mrs. Mary Stockburger of Cleveland and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Moncrief, Dr. Philip A. Pinckard and Bob Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in Flint Springs Cemetery. Nephews and the Lay-Led Revival team members will serve as pallbearers. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Habitat of Humanities of Cleveland, PO Box 303, Cleveland, TN 37364-0303 and to Gideon International, PO Box 556, Charleston, TN 37310-0556.
