Billy C Presley, age 82, resident of Calhoun, TN, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at a local hospital with his loving family by his side.
He had been the faithful husband of Myrtle Rice Presley who preceded him in death after 56 years of marriage. He was born in Murray County, GA on June 25TH, 1927. He was known to his many friends as Bill or BC .
Mr. Presley was employed with the L & N railroad and retired as the agent at Calhoun after 42 years of service. He was a member of Calhoun First Baptist Church. He was active in his church, serving his Lord as a Deacon and teacher of the Senior Adult Mens Sunday Class for over 25 years. He was an accomplished gardener, woodworker, artist, and enjoyed making Afghans and Quilts. His many talents were admired by all that knew him. Mr. Presley served in the United States Army at the end of World War II. He served in the 1542ND Engineers Survey Company where after attaining the rank of Technician 4TH Class he was honorably discharged February 28, 1947.
He was a devoted father to Ronald Presley of Cleveland and Alan Presley of Calhoun. Loving family includes daughter in law, Pamela Presley of Cleveland, daughter in law, Mary Presley of Calhoun, granddaughter, Melissa Presley of Ringgold, GA; and granddaughter Anna Presley of Orlando, FL.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 13, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Calhoun First Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Sorah and Rev. Kevin Cheatham officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be from Calhoun Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Grissom Funeral Home who has charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.grissomfh.net
