Elmer Rector

Memorial service for Elmer L. Rector, age 82, of Edgewater, who died Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at his home, will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 11 at Edgewater United Methodist Church, with The Reverend Williston C. Brewer and The Reverend Robert Moffat, officiating. Burial will follow at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater.

Born in Saltville, Virginia, Mr. Rector moved to this area from Catonsville, Maryland in 1987, after his 1982 retirement as a plant manager for Olin Corporation in Baltimore, Maryland. He served in the United States Army at the end of WWII, then re-enlisted for the Korean Conflict. Mr. Rector was a very active member of Edgewater United Methodist Church, and had a passion for woodworking.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lois Ann; 3 daughters, LeAnna Graham and her husband Tom, of Katy, Texas, JoLynn Perry and her husband Albert, of Cleveland, Tennessee, Ginia Shawl and her husband Don, of Bristol, Tennessee; 1 son, Lee Rector of Edgewater; 1 sister, Ann Antrobus and her husband Link, of Charlottesville, Virginia; 7 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Rectors name to Florida United Methodist Childrens Home, 51 Main Street, Enterprise, Florida 32725, or Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, Florida 32129.
