Rodney Renner, 67, of Cleveland, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2008, in a local hospital. The cause of death was a pulmonary embolism.
Preceded in death by his father, Elmer Renner and mother, Marian Renner. Survived by brother, Steve Renner (Donna) Steven, Alice, Mimi; sister, Janis Domer (Jim) Alan, Lesley; brother, Mike Renner (Sandy) Emily, Joe; sister, Martha Jane Ankney (Mike) Jeremy and several great nieces and nephews.
During his life, Rodney was an avid woodsman, hunter, fisherman, billiards player, scoutmaster, and care-giver. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
A graduate of Bradley High School and Kirkman Tech in Chattanooga, he retired after several years from TVA.
Rodney served in the National Guard. He was a member of the Cleveland Bear and Boar Club, Cleveland Hunting Rifle and Pistol Club, and he was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as a church elder.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Pastor Cliff Hudson officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Richard Fisher, Steve Gibbons, Taylor Howard, Darel Jones, Mac McCoin, and David Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Rogers, Madison Beck, David Murray, Bill Arrants, Jack Watson, Dwight Coffee, Raymond Swafford, Roger Hangar, Buddy Stansberry, Buddy Miller, and Jim Searcy. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Grissom Funeral Home.
