Rev. Ardetta M. Root, 86, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday morning, May 22, 2007 at her home. She was an Ordained Minister and a member of the Four Square Gospel church. She completed a 15 month course at the Scovill Schools in only 11 months (Business Secretarial and Executive Training). She graduated in 1938 from Rock Falls, Illinois High School. During World War II, she worked in Green River Ordinance Plant. She graduated from Open Bible Institute in 1947 and from Light House of International Four Square Evangelism Bible College in 1949 with a Bachelor of Theology degree. She ministered in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyman and Jessie Alice Root; one half-brother, Arnold Dexter; and an infant sister, Rosemond.

Survivors include one cousin, Mrs. Virginia Illig of Aurora, NY; two nieces, Mrs. Louise Kyte of Fontana, CA and Mrs. Betty Jean Byers; co-worker for 50 years and caregiver, Rev. Barbara J. Tennyson; and other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Rev. Bart Slikker, Four Square Church of Dayton, Rev. John A. Stone, Keith Street Ministries, and Lt. Col. Donald Arnold (R) of Salvation Army. Interment will be private.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
