Melba Davis Schrader, 76, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2006 at her home. She was the daughter of the late John A. and Grady Simpson Davis, who were pioneer settlers of Bradley County. She was a life-long resident of Cleveland and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was the first woman employed in the American Uniform office when it opened in 1949 and retired in 1996 after a career that spanned 47 years. She was a life-long Republican and was formerly active in the Bradley County Republican Womens Association.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul M. Davis, J. T. Davis, Arvell Davis, and Alvin Davis; and two sisters, Jewell Carroll and Nellie Davis.
Survivors include two daughters and sons in law, Becky and David McMurray of Birmingham, AL and Susan and Roger Blaine of Ooltewah; one brother, J. Austin Davis and his wife Mary; and one sister, Betty Hicks and her husband Kenneth; two grandchildren, Kelly McMurray and Stephanie Blaine; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Fort Hill Cemetery with Rev. Mike Davis officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1-2:30 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home.
