Clara Belle Scott

d. October 28, 2008

The Scott Family reports that Clara Belle Officer Scott of Rabbit Valley fell asleep in Jesus on Tuesday, October 28, 2008. She was a sincere Christian, a devoted wife and mother, and a beloved aunt and sister. The family sincerely thanks those who prayed and demonstrated their love and concern during her illness. Clara Belle Officer was born May 8, 1919, in Bradley County Tennessee, and on November 11, 1949, she became the wife of Howard Scott, and in doing so became the first daughter-in-law in the Scott family. During their 58 years of marriage, she was a faithful wife and a willing worker. The story is told of how Howard Scott, attracted to the lovely girl singing in the South Cleveland Church of God choir, decided one day to call her. He didnt think she would know who he was, but she immediately recognized his voiceand a lifelong relationship was born. Most importantly, Clara was a born-again Christian, having placed her trust and confidence in Jesus. She was a member of the Church of God for 75 years, and currently a member of the Prospect Church of God. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Linda Officer; four brothers"Clyde, Delmer, Earnest, and Harle Officer; and three sisters"Ira Mantooth, Inez Frazier, and Leta Waters. And so Clara has fallen asleep, leaving this world"and those acquainted with her"all the better for having known her. Surviving her is Howard Scott, her beloved husband of 58 years, and their two children, S. DeWayne Scott, and wife Rhonda and daughter Karen Scott. She is also survived by three brothers-in-laws, along with their respective spouses, and a sister-in-law: John & Betty Scott, James Eddie & Dianna Scott, Sister in law, Mary Dailey & Husband Jack, and Kathy Scott. To this is added a number of nieces, nephews, and their families.
