Becky C. Smith

Becky C. Smith, 54, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at her home. She was a 1970 graduate of Cleveland High School and a 1974 graduate of UTC. She received her CPA certificate in 1975. She was a partner in several local businesses including Cookes Food Store and CSC Investments (Panera Bread). She was a previous winner of the Chamber of Commerces M. C. Headrick Free Enterprise Award. She was a life-long member of First United Methodist Church where she was active in several leadership roles. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl S. Cooke.

She is survived by her husband, David R. Smith of Cleveland; two sons, Eric Smith and Tyler Smith and his wife, Cait, all of Chattanooga; mother, Martha R. Cooke of Cleveland; brother and sister in law, Dan and Janey Cooke of Cleveland; Godmother, Bess Pirkle of Cleveland.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Andrew L. Henry officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3425 N. Ocoee Street, Cleveland, TN 37312 or to the American Cancer Society.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home.
