Charles V. Southard, Jr.

Charles V. Southard, Jr., resident of Cleveland, TN, passed away Wednesday evening, September 3, 2008, in a local hospital. He served in the United States Navy from 1945 " 1947 aboard several ships including the USS Roosevelt. He was very proud of his country and all those who served the U.S.A. He was very proud to have passed his realtors test on his first attempt and he was an outstanding real estate salesman throughout his life. He was a proud father that stood by his children thru the best and worst of times. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles V. Southard and mother Willie Southard.

He is survived by three children, Brad Southard of Cleveland, TN, Gail Williams and her husband, Paul, of Blackstone, VA, Terry Mongold and her husband, Steve, of New Market, VA. 8 grandchildren, Britney Wampler and her husband, Chris, of Richmond, VA, Schaefer and Foster Southard, Cleveland, TN, Steve Mongold, Jr., of New Market, VA., Kaitlyn Williams, presently attending the U. S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT, Cassidy Mongold of New Market, VA, Peyton and Austin Williams of Blackstone, VA. The mother of his children, Lela Southard, Harrisonburg, VA. Two brothers, Maynard Southard and Oliver Southard and his wife, Sandra of Harrisonburg, VA; two sisters, Phyllis Tutwiler and her husband, Tom, of Harrisonburg, VA and Janice Chapman and her husband, Ray, Gate City, VA.

The family requests memorials be made to the VFW of Bridgewater, VA to honor fallen and returning veterans of Iraq and other countries around the world where they have bravely served to defend our freedom. 450 Waterman Drive Harrisonburg, VA 22802.
