Zelphia Alyce Grose Stacey, 90, a resident of Cleveland, TN passed away Sunday morning, February 10, 2008 at her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. E. T. Stacey; parents, Mike and Louise Grose; brothers: Jacob, Zacharie, Urias, James and Derwood Grose; son-in-law, Herman W. Wilson (husband of Patricia) and granddaughter, Deborah Stacey Grecco (daughter of John).
A faithful member of the Church of God International, she and her husband ministered for over 58 years, pastoring 20 churches in 8 states. She was an active member of the North Cleveland Church of God since 1976 and the Unity Sunday School Class. She had a passion for quilting and her interests included gardening, sewing, crafts, fishing, and bird watching but her biggest thrill of all was collecting seashells.
Survivors include her children: Myra (Charles) Vaughan; John C. Stacey, Sr.; Patricia Wilson; Yevonne Gentry; Gary (Adrell) Stacey; 22 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Eddie Bodenheimer, Powersite, MO; Mary Sizemore, Cleveland, TN; Betty Ramsey, Mapleton, GA; 2 brothers: Bill Grose, Troy, Ohio; Lacy Paul Grose, Marietta, GA; many nieces, nephews, and close friends, including Authalene and Billy Ray Gilbert of Taylors, SC and their family.
A Celebration of the Life of Zelphia Stacey will be held Monday, February 18, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at North Cleveland Church of God with the Rev. Mitch Maloney officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and the Unity Sunday School class will be honorary pallbearers.
