Viola Strickland

Viola Mae Strickland, age 83, resident of Cleveland, TN, passed away Monday, June 9, 2008, in a Chattanooga hospital. She was a member of Maple Street Baptist Church. She was formerly employed as a nurses aid at Wellington Place and also worked for the Holiday Inn North in the Restaurant. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph Strickland; parents, Gloster Guffey and Ellen Picklesimer Guffey, one brother, Sam Guffey and two sisters, Ruby Guffey and Louise Guffey and one very special friend, D.J.

She is survived by two sisters and brother in law, Lena Thomas, Soddy Daisy, TN and Frankie and Armando Olivas, Hixson, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 12, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Seiber officiating. Interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Tennessee-Georgia Cemetery in Rossville, GA with Chris Olivas, Larry Thomas, Zack Dollmont, Joe Phillips, Michael Glenn and Jared Glenn serving as pallbearers.
