Bethel Reed Sullivan, Sr., age 83, lifelong resident of Bradley County, TN, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2009, in a local healthcare facility. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and attended Berean Baptist Church. He was a Christian and he was loved by all. He was a veteran of WWII having served with the 23rd Infantry of the 2nd Division. He fought in three major battles in Ardenes Forest, Battle of the Bulge, Rhine River Crossing and Central Europe and had been awarded three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and Sharp Shooter Medal. He had been employed with American Uniform for many years and Dana Corporation for several years. Mr. Sullivan was the son of the late Frank Asbury Sullivan and Emma Belle Heifner Sullivan. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, William French Sullivan, John L. Sullivan, Don Sullivan, Joe Sullivan and Daniel Sullivan.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa Sandidge Sullivan, sons and daughters in law, Bethel Reed Sullivan, Jr. and Angie of Cleveland, TN, John Sullivan and April of Old Fort, TN and granddaughter, Emma Rose Sullivan of Old Fort, TN. Nephew, Rodney and wife Becky Sullivan, Cleveland, TN, Terry and wife Pat Sullivan of Apison, TN; niece, Sherry Leech and husband Ed of Cleveland, TN.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 29, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Dr. Roger Wagner officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Springs Cemetery with Rodney Sullivan, Terry Sullivan, Ted Johnson, Gary Hicks and Tony Barham and Tony Ballew serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be William Stonecipher, Millard Stonecipher, Jr., Jim Sandidge and Madison Sandidge and Neal Ridgeway.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 28, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Grissom Funeral Home who has charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.grissomfh.net
