Rev. Barbara Jean Tennyson, age 77, resident of Cleveland, TN, passed away Sunday morning, November 23, 2008, in a local hospital. She graduated from Northwest Central Bible College in 1955 and was soon ordained minister and member of the Four Square Gospel Church. She served in partner ministry with Rev. Ardetta M. Root for 39 years in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota. Her ministry included concentrated work among young people which was augmented by her singing ability. During her pastorate, Rev. Tennyson worked at Sundstrand in Rockford, Illinois, and retired in 1993. Her service to God continued in Church activities in the Rockford Salvation Army and later in the Keith Street Ministries in Cleveland, TN where she was coordinator of Senior Citizens Ministries. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Vinis Tennyson, brothers, Edward and Rod Tennyson, sisters, Maxine Girdley, Florence Rector, Rita Hayman, Norma Robison and Wilma Tennyson.

Survivors include four brothers, Otto, Neil, Duane and Timothy, four sisters, Dorothy (Raymond) Girdley, Louise (Stanley) Gamble, Marilyn ( Donald ) Arnold and Josephine Tennyson; 29 nieces and nephews and 61 great nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at 6:00 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Rev. John A. Stone, Senior Pastor of Keith Street Ministries, Officiating. Interment will be held privately.
