Sally Savannah Troxell, 94, of Cleveland, Tennessee, "went home" to be with her Lord and Savior on August 30, 2009. She was born March 27, 1915, in Maple, Oklahoma. She was a homemaker although during World War II she served as riveter at McDonald Douglas Aircraft in Tulsa. She was a member of the Grace Community Church in Cleveland.
Affectionately known as Grandma Sally , she was greatly loved by many. Living the first 90 years of her life in Oklahoma, she relocated to Tennessee shortly after her 90th birthday. During her four years in Cleveland, she won the hearts of many with her quick wit and feisty personality.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Barrett and Molly Dustman Barrett, her sisters, Ina Barrett, Mae Knight and Avis Robinson, her brother William Barrett, her husband, James Troxell, her son, Gary Pat Troxell, and her great-grandson, Patrick Mendel. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Mendel of Cleveland, her son James Ray Troxell, Sr., of Claremore, Oklahoma; her daughter Janet Short of Poteau, Oklahoma; her sister Hazel Boaz of Sapulpa; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, other relatives, friends and loved ones. A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday (today) at 6:00 p.m. at Grace Community Church in Cleveland, with her grandson, Pastor Kevin Mendel officiating. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 3:00 p.m. in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, with Brother Bill Oldham and Pastor Kevin Mendel officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Interment will be in Green Hill Memorial Cemetery. Green Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
