Rex Zane Walker, age 70, resident of Cleveland, TN, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2009, in a local hospital. He was formerly employed with Brown Stove Company in Cleveland. He was a veteran and served his country in the United States Army. He loved the outdoors. He was preceded in death by one brother, James Red Cathey.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Wanda Walker, five children and spuoses, Deanna and Eddie Cox, Kim and Dallas Medlin, Steve and Debra Walker, Roxanne Walker and Greg and Janie Neyman; mother, Marie Cathey; sisters, Shirley Barkley and Diane Wade and brother, Lanny Lockhart, Sr.; two very special grandchildren and one great grandchild who he was very close to, Shantae and Olivia Neyman and Braiden Gates, also 12 grandchildren, Justin Cox, Chasity Cox, Deana Dawn Cox, Chris Gates, Jason Gates, Jeremy Medlin, Amanda Garrett, Drisco Medlin, Sasha Medlin, Eric Medlin, Megan Burbridge and Cody Walker and 16 great grandchildren also survive. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 31, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Bill Beaty and Rev. Doyle McNabb officiating. Interment will follow in Double Springs Cemetery in Calhoun, TN with Ryne Forshee, Rick Forshee, Jeff Stewart, Dee Barkley, Jason Gates and James Wilson serving as pallbearers. Services will conclude with full military honors and a Trinity Dove Release ceremony. The family request in lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Assn. or the Heart Association.
