Eugene (Gene) B. Wise, 61, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2006 in Sevier County, TN. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served during Vietnam and a member of American Legion Post #81. Gene loved to hunt, camp, fish, throw darts, cook and spend time with his family. He was a cook for 42 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Baxter Wise and Catheryn Bass Wise; two sisters, Ruth Harrington and Savannah Elrod; one brother, Robert Wise; and one step-son, James Stevenson.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia E. Wise of Cleveland, son, Bobby Eugene Swalley of Nowata, OK; brother, James Wise and his wife Rusty; six step children, Kristie Whaley and husband Jackie, Walter Deckert and wife Sina, Michael Deckert, Jr., Misty Deckert, Sherry Miller and husband Jeff, and Kathy Hinkle; five grandchildren, Kendra Whaley, Anthony Deckert, Brian Miller, Brandy Hinkle and Becky Lynn and husband Jonathan; great grandchildren, Summer Lynn, Dillon Lynn, Michael Hinkle, Cody Hinkle, and Marie Barnette; and father in law and mother in law, Emerson and Wanda Gee.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 12 noon at Grissom Funeral Home with Rev. Herb Connelly officiating. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wise Memorial Fund, 2991 Boyds Creek Hwy, Sevierville, TN 37876.
