Hazel Bell Murphy, aged 83, of Cleveland, TN, departed peacefully on the evening of Sunday, December 12, 2010 to be with her Lord and Savior. Hazel was a resourceful woman, a devout Christian, and fierce defender of her family. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Tabernacle and was a long time resident of the Red Hill Valley community. Hazel loved to travel and enjoyed the company of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved her roses. Hazel is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Murphy; father, Frank Price; mother, Cordy Lou Price; only sister, Mary Bancroft; son in law, Wayne Woody; and granddaughter, Sonya Corbit. She is survived by five children, Rebecca Woody of McDonald, TN, Naomi Corbit and her husband George of Cleveland, TN, Robert Murphy and his wife Ellen of Cleveland, TN, Judy Murphy of Cleveland, TN, and Tammy Dunn and her husband Dean of Cleveland, TN. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Tim Woody and his wife Janet of McDonald, TN, Mark Woody and his wife Wendy of Cartwright, TN, Chris Stovall and her husband Tommy of Cleveland, TN, Kathy Cantrell and her husband Stan of Riceville, TN, Wendy Platt of Fredericksburg, VA, Tonya Young and her husband Allen of Cleveland, TN, Charity Murphy of Cleveland, TN and twelve great-grandchildren: Jennifer Goodner, Amber, Blake, Micah, and Becca Woody, Jordan and Logan Stovall, Tyler and Trent Cantrell, Ann Garrison, Jacob and Will Young. She was a lovely soul and will be greatly missed by many dear friends and all of her family. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 from 4-7 pm at Grissom Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN. Funeral Services will follow at 7 pm with her grandsons, Tim Woody, Mark Woody, and Stan Cantrell officiating. Hazel's great grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
