LT Col. Winston R. Bennett, U. S. Army (Ret), age 81 of San Antonio, TX, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2011. He was born and raised in the Bradley County area. He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Sybil (Jordan) Bennett. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helen J. Bennett; son, Winston R. Bennett, Jr., PhD, and his wife, Teresa; daughter, Shannon E. Bennett and her husband, Donald Voltz; grandchildren, Jackson, Shidela, and Zoey; two brothers, Cecil (Laverne) Bennett of Franklin, NC, and Sam (Joyce) Bennett of Cleveland; three sisters, Melba Saffles, Pat (Glenn) Williams and Lynn Dykes, all of Cleveland; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in the Cleveland area. A graveside service will be held Monday, May 2, 2011 at 9:45 a.m. at Fort Sam National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX with full military honors.
