Minnie Mildred Beasley Davis, age 86, resident of Cleveland, TN departed this life May 25, 2011 at the family residence after an extended illness. She was born in Island, KY, June 21, 1924. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Ara Self Beasley and two brothers, Russell Beasley and Augustus Beasley. Mrs. Davis was an active minister's wife and taught private piano lessons for over 30 years. She was a gifted pianist and studied at the Vaughn Music School in Lawrenceburg. She was an author and known for her unique whit and creativity. She served alongside her husband in pastoral ministry within the Church of God of Prophecy. They pastored, Knobbs, KY, Highland Park and 21st and Main churches in Louisville, KY and the Ridgedale Church in Chattanooga, TN. She and her husband moved to Cleveland, TN in 1960 where he served at International Offices of the organization. Mrs. Davis taught private piano at various locations including Conasauga, Signal Mountain and Old Fort schools. Later she assisted her husband in state administration for the Church of God of Prophecy in Missouri, Ohio, Virginia and Georgia for 24 years. In many of these locales she served as State Director of Women's Ministries, Youth Camp Coordinator, Office Secretary, Music Minister, and director of women retreats known as Ladies Day. These retreats provided her an opportunity for personal ministry and encouragement for women to further deepen their faith in a God that was relevant, personal and involved in her daily living. Although she and her husband retired from appointment in 1990, they traveled extensively as a team holding revivals and speaking at numerous church conferences. She was also an active member of the senior saints at the Peerless Road Church in Cleveland. She was affectionately known as "Happy" after being so titled by her first grandchild. She treasured the moniker and overtime, many defined the term by pointing to her and observing the smile that was always there. She was truly happy with her Lord, happy with her family, and happy to help others and minister to their needs. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Bishop Allen Davis, Sr.; daughter, Londa Richardson and husband, Dwight of Cleveland; son, Allen Davis, Jr. and wife Leecy of Chattanooga; two grandsons, Jeremi Richardson and wife, Amy of Columbus, OH; Tyler Richardson, Hamilton, AL; two great-granddaughters, Ariah and Shalom Richardson, also of Ohio; two brothers, Amon Beasley, of Calhoun, KY and Doris G. Beasley of Allen, TX. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Friday, May 27, 2011 at the Peerless Road Church of God of Prophecy, 3301 Peerless Road, Cleveland, TN with Bishop A. J. Coalter, Bishop Lanny Carter, and Bishop E.C. McKinley officiating. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Bishop Ray C. Wynn and Bishop Ron Bryant officiating. The family will receive friends at the Grissom Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN from 6pm to 9pm on Thursday, May 26, 2011.
