Helen Jolly Brooks, 85, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, June 3, 2011 in a local hospital. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a BS in Vocational Home Economics and from the University of Tennessee Knoxville with a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught at Oak Grove School, Directed Head Start, Follow Through, Home Bound and Nutrition Director for Bradley County Schools. Developed a Day Care program for the Community, served as Travelers Aid Contract Person, and directed Child Support Division for this court district for the District Attorney's Office. She was a member of Broad Street Methodist Church and was also active in PTA and Eastern Star. She was born in Warrior, Alabama to the late Lewis Jackson and Ethel Dagnen Jolly and was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee Brooks. She is survived by her son, Wayne Lee Brooks and wife Chrissie Curtis Brooks; daughter, Susan Brooks Fleming and husband David Fleming; grandchildren: Christal Gail Brooks Probeus, Brian Probeus, Wayne Allen Brooks, Joanie Brooks, Sarah Jane Curtis Jarvis, Tamera and Yazz Henry, Becky Lynn Fleming Lloyd, John Lloyd, Christina June Fleming, Jeffrey Weston Fleming; great-granddaughters: Grace Brooks and Keffie Henry; great grandsons: Curtis Jarvis, Broden Henry; adopted family, Judy Herron, Margaret and Jerzu Kowalik, Anisczia and Daniel. Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2011 in the chapel of Grissom Funeral Home with Pastor Debbie Stokes officiating. A private graveside will be conducted at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.
