H. L. Eubanks

H. L. (Red) Eubanks, age 78, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday evening, June 29, 2011 at his residence. He was born and raised in Durham, NC and moved to Cleveland in 1951. He was the son of the late Dell Eubanks and Mattie Bolten Eubanks. He was employed by the Maytag Corp. for 25 years and later with Bradley Central High School in the security department where he encouraged teenagers to finish school and to remain drug free. Later, he and his wife Bobbie became foster parents to two teenagers. He attended Kinser Church of God. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanette Eubanks; granddaughter La Rita Shetler; and two brothers, Julius M. and James E. Eubanks. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Bobbie Eubanks; two sons, Russell (Karen) Eubanks of Benton, TN and Rev. Clifford (Marty) Eubanks of Spring Hills, FL; three daughters, Vicky (Mike) Raburn of Cleveland, Janel (Eddie) Reece of Chattanooga, and Vanessa Eubanks of Port Richey, FL; one step-daughter, Susan (Eddie) Scoggins of Cleveland; two step-sons, Robby (Christine) Carroll of Cape Coral, FL and Steve Carroll of Seattle, WA; thirty grandchildren; one sister, Peggy "Lillie" (Jimmie) Drum of Ridgecrest, CA; three brothers, Charles (Shelby) Eubanks and Carl (Cathy) Eubanks, all of Durham, NC, and Percy C. (Sarah) Eubanks of Phoenix, AZ; sister-in-law, Martha Eubanks of Morehead City, NC. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with his son, Rev. Clifford Eubanks and Rev. Guinn Green, Pastor of Kinser Church of God officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery with Eddie Reece, Mike Raburn, Eric Newby, Mike Eubanks, Russell Eubanks, and Josh Eubanks serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Rex Young, John Eads, Charles Eubanks, Carl Eubanks, Steve Carroll, and Robert "Robby" Carroll. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11-2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. The family requests that memorials be made to the Kinser Church of God Building Fund, 141 Kinser Rd.
