Reverend Roy Preston Martin, 81, a resident of Georgetown, TN, went to be with the Lord July 28, 2011. Roy served dutifully in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a retiree from General Motors of Brook Park, OH. Roy was a faithful minister in the Church of God of Prophecy since 1969. He pastored several churches in Ohio and Tennessee. He resided in Georgetown since 1984. Roy was a loving husband, father and pawpaw. He will be sadly missed by all those who loved him. He was preceded in death by one son, R. C. Martin; brothers, Hank, Johnny, Edgar Lee, Leonard and Howard; sisters, Thelma (Sis) Hamilton, Pat Ponton and Alice Elrod. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Inez Martin; daughters, Cathy (Ken) Hargis of Mansfield, OH and Laura (Clayton) Smith of Pikeville, TN; son, Kevin (Vicki) Martin of Birchwood, TN; grandchildren; Cayla Hargis of Mansfield, OH, Emilee Smith of Pikeville, TN, Preston Martin of Birchwood, TN, and Samantha Martin of Ohio; great grandson, Tyson Boley of Ohio; sisters, Gladys McDougal and Verlie Jones, both of Ohio, and Ethel Persinger of West Virginia; and very special nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Revs. Richard Martin, Kenneth Nope and Ken Norris officiating. Interment will follow in McInturff Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. The family requests that memorials be made to the Gideon Memorial Bible Fund.
