Frances Treadaway Arrington, 79, of Cleveland, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on August 2, 2011. Frances came to know the Lord at age 12, and she loved her Savior Jesus Christ. She was a longtime member of North Cleveland Church of God where she served in various capacities, including serving on the Christian Education Board, establishing the church library, ministering to shut-ins and the bereaved, and teaching preschoolers. She was a longtime member of the Geneva Circle, and an early member of the Unity Class. Frances served the Lord at Lee University for almost fifty years, including twenty-four years as Director of the Lee College Library/William G. Squires Library. Frances was instrumental in the expansion of the Library, including several phases of automation. Following her retirement, she volunteered with the Dixon Pentecostal Research Center, where for the last two years she focused on organizing the archives of Lee University. Frances was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was a steady model of faith and service for her family and friends. Mrs. Arrington was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Treadaway and Minnie Gray Treadaway, and her brothers, John (Geneva) Treadaway and Fred (Goldie) Treadaway. She is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Dr. French L. Arrington, former Chairman of the Department of Bible and Theology at Lee University and Professor Emeritus of the Church of God Theological Seminary; sister Nancy Treadaway Smith of Fultondale, Alabama; daughter Athena (Gary) Hicks of Chattanooga; son Lee (Traci) Arrington of Cleveland; grandsons Travis Arrington and Trent Arrington of Cleveland; and many beloved nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Frances' life will be held Thursday at 12 noon in the North Cleveland Church of God Dixon Chapel with the Rev. Keith Bates officiating. Clergy friends Dr. Randy Eaton, Rev. Mitchell Maloney, Rev. Gary Sears, and Rev. Donald Logan, as well as Dr. Ted Gee, Dr. Carolyn Dirksen, and Lee Arrington will offer thoughts and memories. A Graveside service will be held at Highway Church of God, Fyffe, Alabama, at 4:30 (Central Time). Family members serving as pallbearers are: Travis Arrington, Trent Arrington, Jimmy Brown, Kevin Brown, Roger Treadaway, Jerry Nix, Justin Nix, DeWayne Treadaway, Zachary Treadaway, David Arrington, David Treadaway, Bradley Treadaway, and Ryan Treadaway. The staff of William G. Squires Library and the Dixon Pentecostal Research Center will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 4 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at North Cleveland Church of God in the Dixon Chapel. The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be given to create a memorial fund that will ensure the completion of the Lee University archives project on which Frances worked.
