Cecilia Evans

Cecilia Evans, 66, of Cleveland, passed away Saturday October 1, 2011 at home with her husband and son by her side. She was a dental hygienist and worked for Drs' Eben Dearmond and Mike Jones until disability forced her retirement in 1999. She was a member of several professional dental hygiene societies through her working career. Cecilia attended Bradley High School, Cleveland State Community College, and graduated from the University of Tennessee Medical Units with a certification in dental hygiene in 1971. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Cleveland as well as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Harmony Chapter. She enjoyed homemaking, reading, and working with plants and flowers. She was also an avid animal lover. Her father Cecil Dorsey Edgemon, mother Eloise, brother Hugh, sister Merryam Stevison, and nephew Jonathan Edgemon preceded Cecilia in death. She is survived by her husband Dale Evans, son Ryan and his wife Amanda, brother Prentice Edgemon and his wife Sue, sister-in-law Carolyn Edgemon, nephews Brian and Philip Edgemon, nieces Cathy Edgemon and Ingrid Hensley, and special friends Margaret Crittenden, Beverly Ellis, and Penny Smith. The funeral service will be held Thursday, at 1 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Bryant officiating. Interment will follow at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Brian Edgemon, Philip Edgemon, James Snodgrass, Steve Hartline, Byron Brooks, and Steve Tyson serving as pallbearers.
