Andrew (Andy) Jackson Lockhart III, 66, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, December 12, 2011 in a Chattanooga healthcare facility. He was a member of the first graduating class of Brainerd High School in 1963. He attended Cleveland State Community College and also MTSU in Murfreesboro. He attended Middle Valley Church of Christ. Andy is best known for his work with the Bradley County Sheriff's Department serving first as the Juvenile Liaison Officer and later as a detective. After leaving the Sheriff's department, he founded his own private detective agency. He served as President of the Cleveland Jaycees, President of Lamar Lawson Order of Police Lodge #59 and Chairman of the Democratic Party. He had also been chosen as Cleveland's Young Man of the Year. Andy was the son of Madge Clements Lockhart and the late Andrew Lockhart. He is survived by his children Kimberly Lockhart, Madilyn Lockhart and Andrew Lockhart IV, all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Jonathan Lockhart of Athens, Drew Lockhart and Drake Lockhart of Benton; his mother, Madge Clements Lockhart of Cleveland; sisters Jacque West and her husband, Mickey of East Ridge, Janice Watson and her husband, Jim of Cleveland, and Jill Smith and her husband, David of Hixson; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Mayor Tom Rowland officiating. Interment will be held privately. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
