David Swafford, age 83, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in a local hospital. He retired from Maytag after 31 years of employment. He was a member of Center Point Baptist church in Charleston, TN and David enjoyed fishing and working on the farm. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Dean Swafford; parents, W. O. and Flora Glenn Clark Swafford; sister, Elizabeth Vassey; brothers, Vastal Swafford and Ellis Swafford; granddaughter, Tara Hooper; and son in law, Terry L. Murphy. Survivors include his wife, Sybil Sprayberry Swafford; daughters, Judy Walker (Bobby) of Murphy, NC and Renee' Murphy of Cleveland; sister, Willie Lee Swafford of Cleveland; three grandchildren, Robin Bowling, Toshia Worley, and Stephanie Womac Withrow; nine great grandchildren, Joshua Hooper, Gabriel Bowling, Megan Worley, Tara Bowling, Robert "R. M." Worley, Macy Worley, Gabrielle Schirmann, Cheyenee Schirmann, and Brittany Withrow; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 12 noon at Grissom Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
