Ray Franklin Hawkins, age 61, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the family residence. He was employed with TDOT. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a veteran of the United States Marines and received numerous medals as a "marksman" during his military service. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Hawkins Cruden and father, Earl Webster Hawkins; and sister, Ruth Stroup. Survivors include his son, Jamey Ray Hawkins and wife, Jennifer of Cleveland; grandchildren, Courtney Hawkins, Chaz Kaylor, Jamey Ray Hawkins, II and Connor Hawkins; two brothers, Ralph Hawkins and Paul Hawkins and wife, Wilma, all of Cleveland; sister, Arnetta Willis and husband Doug, of Cleveland; one uncle, Ernest Burchfield of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home. A private interment will be held at a later date.
