John Keith Craig passed away in Cleveland, Tennessee on Thursday, May 10, 2012. He was 90 years old. His immediate family will celebrate his life with a private memorial service in Boone County, Indiana, at a future date. Mr. Craig was born December 2, 1921 on the family farm just east of Thorntown, Indiana. His parents were John Carl and Ollie Edith (McKenzie) Craig. He is preceded in death by his sister, Jennie Hester Ginn (Kenneth) and his brother, Kemper M. Craig (Mary). Mr. Craig served in the Pacific in WWII with the 16th Signal Army Battalion. He was awarded campaign ribbons for landings at Leyte, Luzon and New Guinea. He returned to Indiana following his service and began farming and raising livestock on the family farm, which he continued to do for over 50 years. He was also a heavy equipment operator. On August 27, 1949, he wed Iris Jane Redman. She preceded him in death in 1990. Mr. Craig leaves behind daughter, Pamela Elaine Pickering (Mark) of Cleveland, TN; son Kenneth David Craig of Thorntown; and daughter Debra Jane Rodriguez (Glenn) of Louisville, KY; grandchildren John Andrew Pickering, Alison Marie Pickering Parden (Justin),Carmen Rodriguez Cripps (James), Glendali Rodriguez-Howard (Turner) and ZamaraRodriguez Johnson (Levi), and great-grandchildren Gabriel Cripps, Ruben and Lorenzo Rodriguez, and Olevir and Zori Johnson. Prior to his move to Tennessee, Mr. Craig lived at Crown Point Senior Living and Parkwood Healthcare in Lebanon, Indiana. While in Tennessee, he resided at Bradley Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Cleveland. The family appreciates the care Keith received from all of his caregivers and medical providers. In Indiana, Dr. Elaine Habig and her staff in Lebanon and all of the caregivers at Crown Point and at Parkwood provided excellent care. In the past few years, the team at Bradley HealthCare came to know Keith and they surrounded him and the family with support and kindness these past days. Wherever he lived, he made an impact on others. He was known for his kind smile, wry sense of humor, and his appreciation for his family. He will be missed.
