A. Paul "Buddy" Brock, 87, of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012. He retired from the United States Marine Corps as Master Sergeant and served in the South Pacific during World War II where he received several medals and honors for distinguished service. Mr. Brock also retired as an electrician from Dupont after 27 years of service. He was instrumental in establishing the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum in Chattanooga where he served as a director and an engineer. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray L. Brock, Sr. and Ila Bailey Brock; brothers, R. L. Brock, Jr. and Edwin Brock; daughter-in-law, Carol Bryant Brock; and grandson, Jeremy Stater. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Brock of Cleveland; children, Aletha England and fiancé, Terry Jones of Cleveland and Leland Brock and wife, Brenda of Hixson; two grandchildren, Bryant Brock and wife, Chrissy of Hixson and Jonathan Brock and wife, Tonya of Chattanooga; three great grandchildren, Gavin, Andrew and Jacob Brock; brothers, Calvin Brock and wife, Barbara and Bill Brock; sister, Charlotte Albritton and husband, Don, Inez McCarter and Gladys Brown and husband, Laddie; sister-in-law, Nita Brock; several nieces and nephews; and all the special friends at Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum and Wellington Place. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2012 in the chapel of Grissom Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Varnell officiating. Interment will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2012 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and on Saturday one hour prior to the service.
