James Albert Flowers, 72, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, August 13, 2012. He was a member of Maple Street Baptist Church and regularly attended the weekly Bible study at Garden Plaza. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. Mr. Flowers was retired from Bowater. He was a member of the Elk's Lodge and the American Legion and was a hot rod enthusiast. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Jerome and Gertrude McCann Flowers. He is survived by his son, Richmond Flowers of Cleveland; three grandchildren, Chandler Flowers, MacKenzie Flowers and Gabriel Flowers, all of Cleveland; two great grandchildren, Marley Flowers and Colton Murphy; and one sister, Karen Marcum of Charleston. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2012 in the chapel of Grissom Funeral Home with the Reverend Blake Tinsley officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with David Jenkins, Gwen Shroyer, Robert Rominger, David Vincent, Gabe Flowers, Charlie Lupo, Richmond Flowers and Shane Gay serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
