Ruth W. Bryan, 98, of Cleveland, passed away Friday, August 17, 2012. She was a retired school teacher at Charleston Elementary School where she taught for 30 years. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Mrs. Bryan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Bryan who was mayor of Charleston for many years; parents, Chapman and Lena Hobach Wasson; son, Steven Bryan; brother, Condon Wasson; and sister, Lanelle Wasson. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Thompson and husband, Jim Thompson and Judy Bryan, all of Cleveland; four grandchildren, Robert Thompson, Christy Buttrey, Cathy Peterson and Christopher Shawn McKnight, all of Cleveland; and 11 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Monday, August 20, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Robert Smith officiating. Her family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Monday at Grissom Funeral Home prior to the graveside service. The family requests that memorials be made to the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 3405 Peerless Road NW, Cleveland, TN 37312.
