Walter J. Stumphf, age 66, resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday morning, August 23, 2012, in a Dayton, TN healthcare facility. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was retired from Xerox. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Benhard Stumphf and Mary Jewel Steward Stumphf, and one brother, Eddie Stumphf. He is survived by his wife, Alma Mull, Cleveland; loving children, daughters, Jennifer Creel and Leslie Nance of Cleveland and grandchildren, Tiffany Creel, Lexi Prince, Jena Johnson and Katy Baliles, the mother of his children, Mary Ann Scoggins; sisters, Jean Monroe (Dave), Atlanta, GA and Susan Spain, Georgia; one brother, Johnny Stumphf (Victoria), Atlanta, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, August 25, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Bard officiating. Interment will be private in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Monroe, Johnny Stumphf and Don Stofel. The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
