Helen Doris Higdon

Helen Doris Rapier Higdon, 78, of Cleveland, left her earthly home on Monday, September 10, 2012 and joined her Lord and Savior in her heavenly home. She loved life and telling people about her Lord. She was born April 10, 1934 and was the daughter of the late Fred and Ethel Rapier. She was a member of Big Spring Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Wilmon Wilson and Alma Jane Rapier and brothers, Elmer Rapier and James "Sonny" Rapier. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 30 years, Don Higdon; two special children, Jeremy Higdon and Nancy "Katie" Higdon, both of Cleveland; other children, Allard "Butch" Bayne III and Cindy Flowers, both of Cleveland and Vivian Fossom of Genoa, WI; stepdaughters, Brenda Smith of Cleveland, Cathy Greer of Fairfax, VA and Myra Gorman of New Orleans, LA; sisters, Rebecca Clabo, Elkate Osment, Jessie Barker, Jerene Land and Louise Clark, all of Cleveland and Frances Dillard of Copperhill; brother, Steve Rapier of Cleveland; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Tasso United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Reverend David Beaty officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Grissom Funeral Home.
