Charles Edward Davis, 73, of Rydal, GA, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012 in a Chattanooga hospital after injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He worked in construction and was an owner/breeder of saddle bred horses, having raised several champion horses. His horse, Commander won Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia state champion and also world grand champion. Charles was a member of South Rossville Baptist Church. He was born in Cleveland to the late, Cecil and Margaret Estes Davis. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Jo Davis of Philadelphia, TN; daughters, Cynthia Denise Steckbauer and husband, Timothy of Kennesaw, GA and Christina Jo Maddox and husband, Matthew of Canton, GA; six grandchildren, Jessica Morgan Steckbauer and Megan Reilly Steckbauer, both of Kennesaw and Andrew Joseph Lusk, Breanna Nicole Lusk, Logan Alexander Lusk and Brett Maddox, all of Canton; sister, Norma Jean McDowell and husband, Edward of Bonaire, GA; several nieces and nephews; his companion, Wilma Wade of Rydal, GA; her children, Lance Wade and wife, Cindy of Canton, GA, Christy Moore of Dalton, GA and Jonathon Wade and wife, Kelly of Elijay, GA; her grandchildren, Nicole, Amber, Laiken, Lane Jenna, Harley and Emma; and her great grandchildren, Wade and Brayden. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2012 in the chapel of Grissom Funeral Home with Minister Tom Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
