Nell Farris Parris, 89, of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013. During World War II she served with the Civil Service for four years working on airplanes at Warner Robins Air Force Base in Georgia. She was retired from Appalachian Quick Check where she was a cashier. Nell was a member of Covenant Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother to all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Parris; parents, Will and Mary Lingerfelt Farris; brothers, Leonard Farris and Walter Farris; sisters, Margaret Bishop, Essie Derrick and Martha Taylor; and son-in-law, Herman Green. Survivors include her children, Shirley Green of Cleveland and Preston Wayne Parris and wife, Sherry of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Tommy (Lisa) Green, Terry (Bridget) Green, Christa (Joey) Penland, Preston (Melanie) Parris and Savannah Parris; great grandchildren, Shea (Shane) Wooten, Barrett Bowlin, Kirsten Penland and Liam Parris; great great grandchildren, Traygan, Addy and one on the way; sister, Ruth Campbell of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Ruth Ball and Kristy, Agnes and all the staff and residents at Bradley Healthcare. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013 in the chapel of Grissom Funeral Home with the Reverend Gary Higgins and the Reverend James Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Tommy Green, Terry Green, Preston Parris, Shane Wooten, Eddie Campbell and Jimmy McCoy serving as pallbearers.
