Clara Brown Sandidge, 88, a lifelong resident of Bradley County, went to her heavenly home on Monday, March 18, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She worked for many years at J. C. Penney in downtown Cleveland. She was a volunteer at Bradley Memorial Hospital for several years and was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the hospital. Mrs. Sandidge was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church for over seventy years. She was a wonderful loving wife, mother and "Nonny" to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Sandidge; parents, John A. Brown and Hattie Louise Brown; two brothers, J. P. Brown and Garland Brown; two sisters, Elfreda Caylor and Wanda Dowdy; and sons-in-law, Wendell Cannon, Terry Brackett and Danny Ratcliff. Survivors include her daughters, Beverly Cannon, Clarice "Reecy" Brackett and Barbara Ratcliff; four granddaughters, Michelle (Drew) Morrow, April (Barry) Johnson, Leslie (Tracy) Hooper and Crystal (Wally) Summers; five great grandchildren, Dusty Cannon, Kenley Hooper, Mattea Hooper, Kiana Hooper and Tabatha Summers; sister, Faye Young; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Brown and Rosa Sullivan; and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 in the chapel of Grissom Funeral Home with the Reverend Rusty Langford officiating. A private graveside service will be held. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
