Larry Richard Hillard, 66, passed away from a long-term illness on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 in Frederick, Maryland. A longtime resident of Cleveland, Larry was the Human Resources Manager at Duracell for over 20 years before he retired in 2007. Prior to that, he was a teacher and principal in Virginia for over 16 years, after graduating from Virginia Tech in 1968. He is of the Methodist faith. An avid woodworker and antique collector, he also loved music, books and his loyal dog, Copper. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Ruby Hillard. He was their only child, born in Bristol, VA on November 9, 1946. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Bonnie (Dalton) Hillard, three daughters and two sons-in law: Lori and Todd Lankford (Austin, TX), Amy and Amit Marathe (Frederick, MD) and Joy Montgomery (Chattanooga, TN). Larry was the proud grandparent of four grandchildren; Richard Jacob, Samuel Todd, Grace Virginia, and Ava Elizabeth. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles, two nieces, many cousins and close friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 pm at Grissom Funeral Home with the service immediately following. Pastor Tony Dunn will be officiating. Interment services will be held in Danville, VA where a visitation with the family will be held at Danville Memorial Gardens on Monday, March 25, 2013 from 10-11:00 AM in the Mausoleum.
