William "Bill: Ehly, 84, of Cleveland, passed away, Saturday, April, 27, 2013 at a local healthcare facility. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a computer systems programmer for the federal government. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served two years in the United States Navy and 4 years in the United States Air Force. Bill was a life member of the Masonic Lodge #228 in Wheaton, MD. He enjoyed metal detecting, golf, woodworking, games on the computer and liked to travel. He sang in the chorus, Sounds of Florida, in Cape Coral. He also worked with the Boy Scouts of America. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry Ehly, Sr. and Gladys Watts Ehly and sister, Helen Vasquez. He is survived by his wife, Jane Pitner Ehly of Cleveland; children, Steve Ehly of Chamblee, GA, Scott Ehly and wife, Brenda of Duluth, GA and Sharon Carter and husband, William of Lawrenceville, GA; step-children, Joe Scofield and wife, Lisa of Cleveland, Janet Steilberger and husband, Karl of Dallas, TX and Mary Beaver and husband, Dan of Port Charlotte, FL; five grandchildren, Christine Ehly, Austin Ehly. Sam Ehly. Ben Ehly and Maddie Carter; eight step-grandchildren, Melissa McCann, Robbie Steilberger, Eric Steilberger, Jessika Brown, Zachary Weichler , Coby Weichler, Joe Scofield II and Jarod Scofield and seven great-grandchildren; half-brother, Richard Binder of Lansdale, PA and uncle, Frank Ehly and wife, Grace of Lansdale, PA. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Seay and Pastor Lu Crandall officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Grissom Funeral Home and on Thursday from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
