On the morning of May 13, the birthday of her late husband, Mildred Joyce Hale went to her heavenly home after a short illness. She joined her husband, Warren, her mother, Dorothy McCoy whom she cared for until her going home at 102 years, and many other loved ones who have gone on before. In her 81 plus years she was known as a person of dignity who cared deeply about those suffering from financial, emotional, physical, or spiritual difficulties and not just offered her sympathies but committed her finances and personal time and property to their behalf. In her most treasured role, she devoted herself to her family as an Army officer's wife and mother of four. She attained a Master's of Early Childhood Education and taught kindergarten for 15 years in the Chatham County School System in addition to various Bible teaching and ministry positions at Ardsley Park Baptist Church during her thirty five years in Savannah, Georgia. Upon returning to her hometown of Cleveland, Tennessee to care for her aging parents, Ted and Dorothy McCoy, she continued her generosity and ministry to others in the Flint Springs community. Mildred Joyce Hale leaves behind everyone who was privileged and blessed to have known her and mourn her absence including her daughters Mrs. Deborah Tillman of Glennville, Georgia; Mrs. Molly Baker of Savannah, Georgia; Mrs. Angela Rimes of Pembroke, Georgia; and her only son, Harlan Hale of Decatur, Georgia. Grandchildren left behind are Aaron Tompkins, Christian Tillman, Joshua Tillman, Sybil Teles, Saba Hale, Nathan Rimes, and Eric Rimes. Great Grandchildren include Elizabeth Tompkins, Malone Tompkins, Hogan Teles, Nina Teles, Hunter Rimes, and Leila Rimes. She is survived by sisters Mrs. Helen Dixon of Cleveland, Tennessee and Mrs. Linda Maddox of Anniston, Alabama and brothers of Cleveland, Tennessee: Bill McCoy and Joe McCoy; and Dwight McCoy from Darby, Montana in addition to many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2013 in the chapel of Grissom Funeral Home in Cleveland, Tennessee. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.
