Benjamin (Benjie) Leon Riggs, 60, of Cleveland, passed away, Monday, May 27, 2013 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was a member of the Bradley County Fire and Rescue for over 40 years and was an EMT. He faithfully went to the Cleveland Speedway Race Track every Saturday night to work the ambulance service. During the Blizzard of '93 he worked his post and never left. Benjie enjoyed photography and was a professional photographer. He was a member of Waterville Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Emma McCuiston Riggs. He is survived by his sister, Debbie Riggs of Cleveland; several cousins and a host of special friends, Betty Johnson of Cleveland, Mark Neeley of Cleveland, Zoe Eubank of Cleveland and his fellow members of the Bradley County Fire and Rescue. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Waterville Baptist Church with Pastor Allan Lovelace, Terry Botts and Richard Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Dewey Woody, Mike Woods, Troy Spence, Terry Botts, Troy Maney, Don Cross, Jonathan Porter and Jimmy Woody serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Grissom Funeral Home and lie in state from Noon until time of service at the church on Thursday.
